The demand for treatments of urological diseases (e.g. renal stones, benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer, etc.) is constantly increasing because of the aging population and gaining popularity of Western diet. In order to tune into the busy tempo of our patients, the Department of Urology in St Paul's Hospital aims at providing a "one-stop" services for managing various urological problems.

Our hospital introduced the first Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL) machine in Hong Kong in 1985 to provide a non-invasive treatment modality for renal stones. The generated shock waves can break the stones into small fragments which can then pass out spontaneously.

New Horizon

The Department of Urology in St Paul's Hospital introduces the latest equipments including the urodynamic, ultrasound machine and fibre-optic endoscopes, etc. Furthermore, the newly installed ESWL machine can allow endo-urological treatment at the same time, aiming to provide treatment for different stones in urinary system in one goal.
