New Infant Tracking System — Comprehensive Protection with RFID Technology

2026.03.13

To enhance the safety of mothers and newborns, St. Paul's Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Nursery Department have fully adopted an advanced Infant Tracking System. Using smart RFID technology, the system ensures accurate matching between each baby and mother, as well as expressed breast milk identification, providing all-round protection and peace of mind for parents.

1.Smart Mother–Baby Matching

Upon delivery, both mother and baby wear corresponding smart wristbands for continuous monitoring. Using RFID technology, the system accurately verifies their identities during transfer, rooming-in, medical checks, or breastfeeding.

2.Smart Expressed Breast Milk (EBM) Matching

When feeding the baby expressed breast milk, nursing staff also verify the smart label on each milk bottle, ensuring correct matching and safe feeding throughout the process.

  • The system continuously tracks the baby's activity range within the ward area.
  • If a baby moves beyond the designated safe zone, a security alert is immediately triggered, notifying our nursery staff to take prompt action.
